Employment Outlook and Salary Guide

The Kelly Services Employment Outlook and Salary Guide examines staffing intentions, skills in demand, HR priorities, turnover, employer of choice benefits and salaries.

The results represent the views of Human Resource Management and Senior Executives from 240 organisations where 70% have more than 100 employees. The salary guide survey was conducted during the first quarter of 2008.

Staffing Intentions
Over the next 12 months 60% of employers indicated staffing levels would increase. 5% would decrease staffing levels and 35% would retain the same amount of employees.  Decreases in staffing levels were predicted to come from large organisations of over 100 plus staff.

Skills in Demand
No surprises that Australia-wide there is a shortage of talent at all levels, particularly in Administration, Call Centre, Engineering, Industrial and Accounting.  The main barrier for employers continues to be attracting future employees and retaining best talent.
